Posts related to quicksurf

In this post we have a video that we shot doing something we have never seen done before. We are showing you the surf wave, wakeboard wake and ski wake behind the same boat – all in one take; completely unedited, untouched and shot on an iPhone7. This hopefully shows you the performance of the new Opti-V hull as well as the speed and versatility of the Ramfill ballast system.

When showcasing the “crossover” performance of other wake boats you typically see something like this:
-The ski wake with one driver, no passenger, and no ballast. Typically these are shots of the skier outside the wake and never showing the skier going through the wakes.
-A different set of shots of the wakeboard wake with 8 passengers, full ballast and a pro rider with camera angles designed to make it look bigger and cleaner.
-Another set of shots of the surf wave [...]

Surf Systems 101

A comparison of all of the surf systems offered in the inboard market

Over the past few years we have seen a whole bunch of “Surf Systems” hit the market.  With so many options to choose from, a lot of people are left asking, “Is one better than another?” In this post we want to talk about the systems, what makes them different, and to try to cut through the marketing rabble to take a serious look at how they compare. I am going to apologize in advance; this topic gets pretty deep, and covering it is necessarily long. So sit back, grab a drink and forgive me for taking up a chunk of your day – I will do my best to make it worth your while.

Before we jump in, it is important to note that you should take some of the information with a grain of salt because we are not just comparing the systems, but comparing the systems on the boat that they are [...]

There is No Replacement for Displacement

Building The Worlds Best Wakesurf Waves.

There is No Replacement for Displacement.

We are often asked why Centurion boats create such awesome surf waves.  There are multiple factors that combine together to make a world class surf wave, one of which is experience.  Centurion created its first surf boat hull way back in the 1990’s, way before surfing was the cool thing.  Additionally, there are things like CATS, Quicksurf and trim tab shapes that allow for wake customization and tweaking.  But the most important factor, by far, is displacement.  There is no replacement for displacement.

What do I mean by this?  Well, it’s simple; physics really does matter.  There are natural laws that apply to wave/wake size and shape.  The wave or wake of your boat (what you surf on) is created by your boat displacing water.  So, in basic terms, with all things being equal (the hull shape, size, etc. of the vessel), the boat and ballast combination that weighs the [...]
