Recently we had the opportunity to run some tests and shoot some video with a Malibu MXZ that we took on trade and see how it compared against boats in our Centurion lineup. In this video we test the ballast fill times for the Centurion Ri237 and the Malibu 24MXZ and see how they compare as well as give details on the ballast systems.

Here are the ballast fill times for adding 3,000 lbs. into the boats:
Centurion Ri237 – 54 seconds
Malibu 24MXZ – 10 Minutes 20 seconds

In the video you may notice that while Jack is out surfing behind the Ri237 that the video is clipped and looped. After we shot the video and came back to sync up the footage on the two cameras we noticed that Jack finished surfing earlier than we had expected and there was a big gap between when they finished surfing and when the [...]

This video is a follow up to the video that we made comparing a Malibu MXZ and a Nautique G23 to a Centurion Ri257 looking at fuel economy and power. If you would like to check them out you can see each of them here:

There were a number of people that were concerned that the information wasn’t valid because the Malibu MXZ we used in the video was a 2016 model and the 2017 model changed both the hull and the drivetrain of the boat. As you can imagine, getting current model boats to do this kind of testing is difficult, REALLY difficult. We made the offer to run our fuel flow rate Diacom test on any manufacturer’s current model year towboat, but had no takers.

Well, it didn’t take long for us to take a 2017 Malibu 24 MXZ in on trade for a new Centurion. Of course, we couldn’t miss [...]

In this post we have a video that we shot doing something we have never seen done before. We are showing you the surf wave, wakeboard wake and ski wake behind the same boat – all in one take; completely unedited, untouched and shot on an iPhone7. This hopefully shows you the performance of the new Opti-V hull as well as the speed and versatility of the Ramfill ballast system.

When showcasing the “crossover” performance of other wake boats you typically see something like this:
-The ski wake with one driver, no passenger, and no ballast. Typically these are shots of the skier outside the wake and never showing the skier going through the wakes.
-A different set of shots of the wakeboard wake with 8 passengers, full ballast and a pro rider with camera angles designed to make it look bigger and cleaner.
-Another set of shots of the surf wave [...]

On June 24-26 we had the opportunity to participate at the Utah Wake Surf Fest. This is a fantastic event that allows people to surf on and review surf boats and waves from nearly every boat manufacturer. The best part for anyone reading this is that the results of the event, including detailed scoring of every aspect of the boats tested, is published for everyone to see. In this article we are going to break down the reviews for each boat and take a closer look at what people thought about each of the boats.

THE EVENT
Before jumping into the details, it is important to understand how the event worked. A total of approximately 30 riders tested a number of boats and boards at Jordanelle reservoir, getting to spend approximately one hour surfing behind each boat over 2 days and spending considerably more time hanging out inside the boats while others were surfing. [...]

We will host some of the best riders in the world along with a bunch of local non professional riders August 12-13 at Pineview Reservoir in Northern Utah at the Rocky Mountain Wakesurf Open.  Please come and join us for 2 days of awesome fun.

Setting Up The Centurion Ri237 Goofy Side Wake Surf Wake

Setting up the Centurion Ri237 Surf Wave

In the attached video I show you a very basic setup for the Centurion Ri237 Goofy side surf wave.  Before we get comments on how your surf setup is so much better etc, please remember that this is a very basic example.  The Ri237 can make a bunch of different wave shapes and sizes and this will help those of you new to the boat get a good starting point and show you the basics of how to change the wave.  Just for reference I weigh approx 220lbs and ride a Phase 5 Danielo Diamond skim style board.I like the wave steep but not verticle.  To make the wave steeper just do the opposite of what this video shows.  We get a bunch of questions on this subject and I hope this helps to get you a starting point to develop the type of wave that works for you and those you ride with.

We often get asked why someone would choose a Centurion over a Supreme and vice versa. Both are great boats that deliver incredible performance at an amazing value. The easiest way to figure out which is best for you is to compare the similarities and differences between the two lines.

Centurion and Supreme share some common things these include.

  1.  ICS Unibody Construction of the hull, deck and stringers. (Full integrated fiberglass seat bases, snap out carpet and single piece deck and hull).
  2. Industry Leading Quality and Processes – Both boats are built in the same factory with similar grade materials and processes. No cutting corners to make a “cheaper” product with Supreme.
  3. The same grade artisan gelcoat graphics.
  4. Surftech-V hull Technology – Though they are each optimized for their respective designs, both are equipped with the only true wakesurf hull design (Supreme is the only value class boat that has been allowed to pull World Series of Wakesurfing Events).
  5. PCM Hyperformance Direct Injection Engines – [...]
