Setting Up The Centurion Ri237 Goofy Side Wake Surf Wake

Setting up the Centurion Ri237 Surf Wave

In the attached video I show you a very basic setup for the Centurion Ri237 Goofy side surf wave.  Before we get comments on how your surf setup is so much better etc, please remember that this is a very basic example.  The Ri237 can make a bunch of different wave shapes and sizes and this will help those of you new to the boat get a good starting point and show you the basics of how to change the wave.  Just for reference I weigh approx 220lbs and ride a Phase 5 Danielo Diamond skim style board.I like the wave steep but not verticle.  To make the wave steeper just do the opposite of what this video shows.  We get a bunch of questions on this subject and I hope this helps to get you a starting point to develop the type of wave that works for you and those you ride with.

We often get asked why someone would choose a Centurion over a Supreme and vice versa. Both are great boats that deliver incredible performance at an amazing value. The easiest way to figure out which is best for you is to compare the similarities and differences between the two lines.

Centurion and Supreme share some common things these include.

  1.  ICS Unibody Construction of the hull, deck and stringers. (Full integrated fiberglass seat bases, snap out carpet and single piece deck and hull).
  2. Industry Leading Quality and Processes – Both boats are built in the same factory with similar grade materials and processes. No cutting corners to make a “cheaper” product with Supreme.
  3. The same grade artisan gelcoat graphics.
  4. Surftech-V hull Technology – Though they are each optimized for their respective designs, both are equipped with the only true wakesurf hull design (Supreme is the only value class boat that has been allowed to pull World Series of Wakesurfing Events).
  5. PCM Hyperformance Direct Injection Engines – [...]

What Boat has the Best Surf Wave

Everyone has an opinion

What Boat Has the Best Surf Wave?

This is one of the most common and interesting questions we get at our dealership.  I am sure that, if you have been looking for a new boat, almost every sales person you have spoken with has told you, in so many words, that the boat they sell has the best surf wave.

Here at BoardCo we find the answer to, “What boat has the best surf wave?” to be way more involved than the expected answer, “We do.”  I often respond to this question with a question, “Will you please define for me what the ‘best surf wave’ means to YOU?”  Without this information I cannot even begin to answer the question.  This usually makes people stop and think as well it should.  What the best wave is very much a personal opinion.   I know that the surf wave that I like is different depending if I [...]

Do I need a Pro Level Wakesurf Wave

Wakesurfing is easier and more fun with the right wave!

Do I Need a Pro Level Wakesurf Wave?

Over the past several years I frequently hear the comment from potential boat buyers, “My family and I want a boat mostly to wakesurf behind, but we are not professionals so we don’t need a pro surf wave.”  Well, I can say, from personal experience teaching hundreds of people to surf, that this idea is a misconception.  I do agree that for a beginner to intermediate level wakeboarder’s perspective (90+ Percent of people), a professional level wakeboard wake is too big, very intimidating and limits progression.  However, for a beginner to intermediate level wakesurfer’s perspective, a “professional-level” surf wave leads to much easier and overall much better experience.  With the right wave progression is much faster, and easier.  In fact if you weigh over 190 lbs. learning to really surf (throw in the rope and ride) is just about impossible without a good quality surf wave .

There is No Replacement for Displacement

Building The Worlds Best Wakesurf Waves.

There is No Replacement for Displacement.

We are often asked why Centurion boats create such awesome surf waves.  There are multiple factors that combine together to make a world class surf wave, one of which is experience.  Centurion created its first surf boat hull way back in the 1990’s, way before surfing was the cool thing.  Additionally, there are things like CATS, Quicksurf and trim tab shapes that allow for wake customization and tweaking.  But the most important factor, by far, is displacement.  There is no replacement for displacement.

What do I mean by this?  Well, it’s simple; physics really does matter.  There are natural laws that apply to wave/wake size and shape.  The wave or wake of your boat (what you surf on) is created by your boat displacing water.  So, in basic terms, with all things being equal (the hull shape, size, etc. of the vessel), the boat and ballast combination that weighs the [...]

Direct Injection vs Sequential Fuel Injection

More Torque and Less Fuel - PCM Direct Injection Engines

Direct Injection vs. Sequential Fuel Injection

Ever since PCM came out with the new direct injection H5 and H6 engines, we have been asked what the difference is between direct and sequential injection and if PCM is the only company using direct injection. I hope to answer both questions below.  Here is some basic information about injection systems.

Basically, a SFI (sequential fuel injection) system has a fuel injector for each cylinder.  Each of these injectors puts fuel into the system at 30-40 PSI before the intake valve.  This air/fuel mixture is pulled into the cylinder past the intake valve on the intake stroke of the piston and is then compressed and ignited.  This system was way more fuel efficient and created way more power than the carburation systems it replaced.  Sequential fuel injection has been used in marine engines for several years and is the system that is currently used in most new towboats [...]
